JOHN ENDERS

I have worked as a journalist for most of the past 30 years and have written for publications as varied as the Economist, Boston Globe, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Newsweek, Miami Herald, The Times of London and GlobalPost. I've been the editor of a small community daily, a reporter for several medium-sized newspapers, and correspondent and editor for the world's largest news network, The Associated Press. My work for the AP, from several states and countries, has appeared in news outlets around the world.

In the United States, I've lived and worked in Oregon, California, Florida and Alaska, and, overseas, in Venezuela, Chile, Bolivia and Puerto Rico, and I also have reported from various other Latin American countries. Over the years, I've covered murder trials, oil spills, Nazis and neo-Nazis, drug traffickers, local governments, epidemics, earthquakes, forest fires and foreign affairs. For 5 years I was director of a regional historical society, which allowed me to live near my children and my aging parents until my parents were gone and my children were grown.

Though I did not study journalism, I have taught university journalism classes. I also have been a columnist and a political risk analyst and terrorism forecaster. I have a BA in politics and an MA in Latin American Studies, both earned many years ago.
